Background:
Eileen Joy Kurlander, part of a large tight-knit Midwestern family, came to California to pursue her dreams of creating new environments. A graduate from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Ms. Kurlander earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Ecology, University of Wisconsin, Madison combined with a Gerontology Specialist Certificate from the Institute on Aging, University of Wisconsin, Madison.
After her education spent creating the built environment, she also learned sensitivity to the human decrepitating within itself and its relationship to its own environment, including the solutions to build to create a better advancing environment. Eileen wanted to put her own spin using her innate gifts of seeing energy.First, Eileen pursued a career within 'corporate America', however, a serious health crisis redirected her. In 1993, overworked and having been exposed to dangerous petrochemicals (now banned in the US), Eileen was forced to look beyond the help of Traditional Western (Conventional) Medicine for help. After eight challenging months using Complementary and Alternative Healing Modalities, Eileen became healthy and began to lead a more normal life. It would take her another 6 months to feel good again.

Based upon a comprehensive report by the National Institute of Medicine and other studies, including a study published by the New England Journal of Medicine, it is evident that millions of Californians, perhaps more than five million, are presently receiving a substantial volume of health care services from complementary and alternative health care practitioners. Those studies further indicate that individuals utilizing complementary and alternative health care services cut across a wide variety of age, ethnic, socioeconomic, and other demographic categories.The Legislature intends, by enactment of this act, to allow access by California residents to complementary and alternative health care practitioners who are not providing services that require medical training and credentials. The Legislature further finds that these non medical complementary and alternative services do not pose a known risk to the health and safety of California residents, and that restricting access to those services due to technical violations of the Medical Practice Act is not warranted.Reports:

Healing Crisis Healed
Eileen tried disciplines that are now considered 'the new frontier' of energy medicine. Eileen needed energy as she couldn't make it off the couch. She started with a nutritionist in Encinitas, CA, a practitioner who taught and administered herbal remedies and a natural diet with organic grains, beans and fruits and vegetables and no white flour or sugars. She also took regular acupuncture treatments including moxa which also gave her more strength. After Eileen was healthy enough to drive a ways, she attended the new Deepak Chopra Center at the Sharp Medical Center where she learned about balancing, through Ayurvedic (Indian) balancing diets and healing treatments, philosophy and care. She also took up Transcendental Meditation there. Along the way she learned and incorporated Carl Simonton's Cancer Cure, Gerber's Vibrational Medicine, Practicing Hot Yoga Exercise, Edgar Caycee castor oil packs and his endocrine pictorial to the Lord's Prayer. She altered her environment and consciousness with soothing music, reading Louise Hay Affirmations and staying away from coffee and alcohol. After 8 intense months of healing regimens, Eileen returned to a better life.
